Submarine crime investigations present their own distinctive array of forensic complexities, environmental considerations, and logistical constraints that usually rule in a quest for truth beneath the surface. The aquatic environment is an added consideration with regard to current, temperature, visibility, and biological activity that can shift, degrade, or alter evidence pertinent to a criminal investigation. This article discusses the rich reality of underwater forensic crime scene investigation, delving into what kind of equipment, method, and multi-disciplinary expertise are needed to manage such intricate affairs. From the lifting of water-logged bodies and guns to trace evidence storage and aquatic decomposition analysis, highly technical approaches tailored to hostile and unstable environments underwater must be utilized. New technologies—underwater remote-operated vehicles (ROVs), side-scan sonar, 3D photogrammetry, and the recovery of aquatic DNA—have greatly enhanced efficiency and accuracy in finding and recording evidence. There are problems to be overcome, however, most crucially chain of custody, reducing contamination, and interpretation of forensic information to suit marine environments. The work also refers to the role of forensic divers, underwater archaeologists, and marine biologists in establishing a coordinated and systematic approach to underwater investigations. Through observing true case studies and latest studies, this research uncovers dynamic technologies and strategies transforming today's underwater forensics. Through solving these underwater enigmas, this article seeks to create a stronger basis for submerged crime scenes and support advancements that guarantee justice is served, even in our world's most remote edges.
